Emergency Response to Terrorism:

HEAVY RESCUE

Over 70% of terrorist incidents involve explosive devices. In an effort to better prepare local firefighters for responding to incidents that may involve building or structural collapse, the PFD Safety & Survival Foundation and the Rhode Island Fire Academy have developed & co-sponsored ERT: HEAVY RESCUE.

This one week class is designed to train experienced fire and rescue personnel to an intermediate level of expertise in heavy rescue. We hope that future funding will allow us to build upon this level of training with a second level of ERT:HR - which will bring area personnel closer to a US&R skill level.
