“Advanced
Vehicle Extrication: Heavy Truck and Bus”
The
Providence Firefighter Safety & Survival Conference is please to offer for
the first time an advanced skills vehicle extrication training program. The
program offering provides responders with cognitive and enabling objectives
needed for heavy truck and bus extrication. The knowledge gained will
increase the responder’s ability to safely and efficiently mitigate an
incident involving a heavy truck or bus crash.
This
advanced program offers progressive and complex extrication practical
scenarios based on real life incidents that the responder may encounter.
And, provides training beyond the basic skills training level of most
extrication programs.
Both
truck and bus practical evolutions will utilize scenarios involving
passenger vehicles. Responders will work together in independent teams
during the scenarios requiring the teams to formulate their own strategy.
This will require them to think outside the box using prior knowledge and
newly acquired techniques utilizing available equipment: rescue lift bags,
hand, power and hydraulic rescue tools/equipment, to safely and efficiently
mitigate the rescue.
Unlike
basic skills programs, attendees having previously achieved a higher level
of competency shall work more independently at the operational level with
the instructors who will coach participants where needed or requested.
